Art Instructions:

Supplies:
• Construction paper - black
• Opaque white paint
• Spray bottle with white paint thinned enough to spray.
Test beforehand.
• Building shapes precut

Instructions:
• Have precut building shapes ready beforehand.
• Have children choose desired shapes and place them on the black construction paper.
• Children then spray over the shapes to create a starry night.
• Lift building shapes to reveal buildings.
• Children can paint windows and other building elements to complete the painting.

  

Art Instructions:

Supplies:
• Watercolor paper
• Watercolors
• Black marker, or colored markers
• Construction paper to create buildings or other urban elements.

Instructions:
• Have children draw a background landscape with a marker. Give them ideas of a park, like Seurat, or Lake Tahoe mountains.
• Using watercolor, have them use Seurat’s method of dots of paint to create their painting. Remind them of the visual mixing of colors. Blue and Yellow make Green, etc.
• Have them cut out buildings or other environment items (trees, etc) and glue on the top of their background painting.

• Construction paper
• Foil
• Glue

Instructions:
• Have children cut out buildings and roads from construction paper. Talk about rectangles, triangles, squares.
• Have children cut out windows from foil.
• Children then glue their Urban Environment into place.

Supplies:
• White construction paper for background
• Construction paper for buildings
• Tissue paper
• Glue
• Markers

Instructions:
• Have children cut out and tear tissue paper to create a background of their environment• Have children cut out windows from foil.
• Children then glue their Urban Environment into place.
• Over the top, they can cut and glue construction paper buildings.
• Using markers, add building elements, such as windows and doors.
